Competitive Swim Instruction, Boulder,
Colorado
This kind of work requires patience. If
you aren't up for the challenge of eliminating bad habits, I am
not the instructor for you.
My approach is form before speed. Once good
form is in place then I use speed to enhance form.
The off season is the best time to do this
kind of work. |

I learned to swim
today even though I've competed since I was five years old! I thought
Beth Davis could help me with my worst stroke: butterfly ... however,
after observing me swim, Beth started from scratch building my upper
body's freestyle stroke.
It was like learning to walk all over again. I even got re-acquainted
with an old shoulder injury that I was compensating for and that was
limiting my stroke.
I've had strong insight generated by our working together of just
how the body moves and that it is a reflection of how I am in life.
For this my intelligence thanks you. For relaxing and allowing my
fluid movement to surface and carry my body with less effort and further
down the lane, my body thanks you. For showing me gently that although
I "knew" a great deal about swimming, unfortunately most
of it just wan't true! For this my heart thanks you.

After fifteen years of age
group, high school and Division One College swimming experience, I
thought I did not require any swim lessons. NOT! Your up-to-date knowledge
of new techniques and excellent teaching skills corrected many of
the bad habits I have gained over the years. Thanks for your help.

At one point I
thought my stroke and swimming form were fine, until I had a swimming
injury. As my swimming program increased and became faster and longer,
a weakness in my arm developed into a problem. A big part of the problem
was that my stroke wasn't right.
I had one session with Beth and was amazed at what she could see and
was able to do with my stroke. I can now feel the rightness, the power
and the efficiency in my new stroke. Beth is a talented and insightful
coach.
